Travel Photo of the Day: Colorado’s Great Sand Dunes National Park

“Only got 1 trip out to Colorado’s Great Sand Dunes national park this year, and as always, it was radical. My buddy Jed and I got down there just in time to hike into the dunes, and pitch a tent in the scary beginnings of a thunderstorm. Luckily it died down in time for us to go fly my power kite on the highest dune until 3AM. Then first thing the next morning we headed out, back to the land of Electronics labs and cubicles. Yay!!!

I always have the hardest time with dunes shots. The scene is so dynamic, so different, I feel that pictures never do it justice. So I end up just getting a rediculous looking mega HDR. So those will likely come, but for now there is this one, where we had some pretty cool lighting on our hike out.”
